Ustami mladentsa (Устами младенца) is the Russian version of Child's Play, aired in the periods: September 4, 1992 — September 3, 2000; April 27, 2013 — December 27, 2014; August 20, 2016 — December 23, 2018; and January 12, 2020 — December 4, 2022.

Game Format[]

Shelest/Rybov era (2020–2022)[]

At the start of the first three rounds, the pair closest to the host always goes first.

Round 1 "Guessers" (Загадалки)[]

One player from each pair is selected to give answers, while the teammate may give hints. The host gives three short definitions of one single word. The answering player needs to guess the words, which give 2 points per correct answer. If the correct answer is not given after three attempts, the host tells the word, which is discarded, and the round continues until the 60 seconds are over. One round is played per pair.

Round 2 "Discussers" (Рассуждалки)[]

Two words in total are explained. At the first attempt, a child explains a word, known to the host and the TV audience. If the pair guesses the word, they earn 15 points; if not — the rivals listen to the second explanation. The correct answer then gives 10 points, but if incorrect — the first pair listens to the third explanation, where the correct answer is worth 5 points.

Round 3 "Explainers" (Объяснялки)[]

Two words in total are played in this round — one per pair. This time, lots of children explain one single word. After part one of the explanations, the pair may risk directly by giving their answer and earning 10 points, but, if the answer is wrong, there is no right for a second attempt. After the first part of the explanations, the pair may request additional hints, giving 5 points if the word is guessed correctly.

In this round, the word in question is also shown to the TV audience.

Round 4 "Overtakers" (Обгонялки)[]

In this round, only the host knows the answers. Both pairs play at the same time. A child starts to explain a word; whoever comes up with a guess may press the button at any moment. If the answer is right, 10 points are awarded, while if the answer is wrong, the rivals listen to explanation till its end. When the explanation finishes, the right answer is still worth 10 points. Usually, five words are played in this round.

The pair to score the most points wins a guaranteed prize, and has the right to play in the final round.

Final round "Winners" (Побеждалки)[]

Four children of a young age (between 4 and 8) come up to the stage in the middle of the studio. After they are presented, one person from the pair is chosen to come to the children. The aim now is to explain 8 words in 60 seconds. In the eight words are explained, the pair wins a super prize. However, if the contestant says a word similar to the answer (e.g. холод (cold) in the clue, if холодильник (fridge) is the answer), the round ends immediately, resulting in a defeat.
